Australian Pacific Coal identifies 106.5MT of metallurgical coal at Blackwater project


(MENAFN- ProactiveInvestors - Australia) Australian Pacific Coal (ASX:AQC) has defined a Resource of 106.5 million tonnes of metallurgical coal within the EPC1827 Cooroorah project in its Blackwater tenement in Queensland. The resource includes 54.9 million tonnes of Indicated and 51.6 million tonnes of Inferred resource with four coal seams located at a depth of between 180 metres and 520 metres within the southern half of the tenement. Drilling in the northern section is expected to reveal further upside with more coal targets. The company is conducting further infill drilling and also collecting more coal sampling. The Cooroorah project is 100% owned by Australian Pacific Coal and the tenement is astride the Jellibah fault. While the primary resource target is west of the fault, a secondary shallow open cut target lies east of the fault. The project is in the Blackwater coal hub of Queensland's Bowen Basin, and is surround by producing coal mines by mining majors. It is also well connected with developed infrastructure in place. Australian Pacific Coal has interests in 34 coal tenements located in southeast Queensland's Bowen and Surat Basin, and has joint ventures in place with mining majors such as Rio Tinto and Cuesta Coal.
