(MENAFN) Jordan's flag carrier Royal Jordanian (RJ) plans to boost services to Libyan destinations to 15 weekly flights, in response to the growing demand for travel between the two counties, Arabian Business reported.

The airline upgraded its operations to Tripoli to 10 weekly from one daily. RJ already increased service between Amman and Misrata to 2 weekly earlier this week while it operates three weekly flights to Benghazi.

The airline aims to meet the rising demand from Jordanian and Libyan businessmen and students on travel between the two countries, in addition to Libyans who seek medical care in Jordan, and from passengers traveling from the Gulf region to Libya via Amman.

Established in 1963, Royal Jordanian has a 32-aircraft fleet. It was the first Middle Eastern airline to order Boeing's 787 Dreamliner and is expected to take delivery of its first 787 next year.
