Kuwait- MoCI to control livestock firms

(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Council of Ministers is planning to issue a decision that places food supplying companies in Kuwait- livestock companies, foodstuff companies and similar companies supported by government- under the control of Ministry of Commerce and Industry, amid new regulations to stop misappropriation of public funds, reports Al-Seyassah daily. Sources said the government is looking forward to withdraw the licenses of companies that receive subsidized materials and fodder from government and which fall under the control of Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR) and have failed to achieve production or target to provide food security. Sources cited more than 400 specialized companies receiving subsidized materials and fodder from government in order to improve the national production of foodstuff, whereas some companies receive subsidy but don't meet expectations. As a result, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has been called to intervene and stop wastage of public funds by setting strict regulations for companies receiving subsidized fodder and other materials to improve the local production.
