(MENAFN- Arab Times) Al Tamimi & Company, the largest law firm in the Middle East, conducted a seminar that focused only on the Companies Law that was recently issued in Kuwait. The seminar was held at the Capital Club in the DIFC in Dubai on Jan 23, 2013, which was attended by over 100 high level executives and legal counsel, including many that travelled from Kuwait to attend. Al Tamimi will be holding another seminar on the new Companies Law in Kuwait at the JW Marriott on Feb 11, 2013 at 9:00 am. The seminar provided a general overview of the new Companies Law, highlighted a number of key provisions as well as a comparative analysis to the former law. The seminar highlighted issues of corporate structuring, corporate governance, interaction of the new law with the Capital Markets Authority law and regulations and discussed various Shari'a applications now introduced in the new law. Opening the seminar for Al Tamimi was partner and head of the Kuwait Office, Alex Saleh, who welcomed the guests and provided an introduction on the new laws as well as discussing the structure and its flexibility. Saleh wrapped up by discussing its compatibility with the Capital Markets Authority law and regulations. Afterwards, partner Philip Kotsis provided a detailed overview of the corporate governance provisions and ended by discussing various Shari'a compliance aspects set forth in the new law. Commenting after the event, Alex Saleh noted that, "The issuance of the new laws was highly anticipated in Kuwait and by foreign individuals and entities conducting business in Kuwait. Because of our strong regional outreach and capabilities, numerous requests were made for us to hold seminars in Dubai and in Kuwait and I am pleased to see such a great turn out. This is indicative of how Kuwait is a strategic jurisdiction for foreigners doing business in the GCC and we look forward to another informative and interactive seminar in Kuwait in February."
