(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) has warned the Kuwait Municipality on the dangerous repercussions of the rising number of tents near the oil and gas pipelines along King Fahad bin Abdulaziz Expressway - a violation of the environmental health and safety regulations, reports Al-Seyassah daily quoting sources.
Sources said the company pointed out the high level of risk involved if the Municipality continues to tolerate such violations, especially in case of accident, due to the proximity of the tents to the pipelines. Sources added the company urged the Municipality to immediately take the necessary measures and ask the tent-owners to move away from the pipelines.
Meanwhile, the Municipality has launched several inspection campaigns to ensure strict compliance with regulations on commercial activities according to the instructions of Director General Ahmad Al-Sabeeh. These campaigns have, so far, resulted in the closure of eight grocery stores in residential areas and a laundry shop in Doha. The Municipality affirmed that the closure orders were implemented only after the owners of these establishments failed to correct their violations despite receiving warning letters earlier.
