(MENAFN- Arab Times) Kuwaiti Salafist preacher Dr Nabil Al-Awadhi's religious speeches during a visit in Tunisia was fiercely criticized by some Tunisian newspapers, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
A well-known Tunisian newspaper 'Al-Shorouqh' published caricatures against Kuwait and its stance regarding the Tunisian revolution.
In a Tunisian TV program, Al-Awadhi bid underage girls to wear 'hijab', a matter that raised discontent in 80 out of 218 members of the National Constituent Assembly.
They filed a petition to the President, demanding for expulsion of Al-Awadhi from their country. They released a statement in which they said, "We condemn any form of guardianship exercised by these strangers on our faith, our people particularly our daughters and their rights".
Al-Awadhi had reportedly claimed he was in Tunisia to deliver educational lessons and not to support any ideology.
Furthermore, a number of lawyers of the Tunisian Bar said they will sue the Kuwaiti preacher as well as those who invited him to Tunisia including the director of Presidential Office who had received him in the hall of ceremonies at Tunis-Carthage Airport, which made such a visit an official one.
