US MetLife bids for remaining AFP Provida stake


(MENAFN) MetLife, the largest US life insurer, is planning to buy Chilean top pension manager AFP Provida's SA remaining shares as part of a USD2 billion deal, Bloomberg reported. Provida shareholders should receive dividends representing excess cash and the proceeds from the sale of minority stakes in other businesses, MetLife said in the statement. Shareholders will also receive dividends totaling an estimated USD340 million, Metlife added. MetLife said it was acquiring AFP Provida with the aim to expand into fast growing developing markets.
