(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) The 11th Shifa al Jazeera excellence awards were announced at Grand Hyatt Muscat on Friday evening. At the function, the Saudi Arabia-based company also declared its business plans for Oman.
''Shifa al Jazeera Medical Group is planning to set up a chain of hospitals in Oman by 2014. We plan to create job opportunities for 2,000 Omanis through our new ventures. Affordable treatment will be the main focus of our Oman operations,'' said Dr K T Rabiullah, chairman of the group. He added that the company will also set up a special fund to cater to the needs of Indian expatriates in the sultanate.
Delivering the inaugural address, Janab Panakkad Hyderali Shihab Thangal, president of the Indian Union Muslim League hailed Shifa al Jazeera's initiative to honour people who have contributed to society.
This year, the awards were conferred on PNC Menon, chairman emeritus, Shobha Developers, a real estate firm; popular magician Prof Gopinath Muthukad; K P Mohammed Kutty, president Kerala Muslim Culture Centre (KMCC), Saudi Arabia; Abdul Latheef Uppala, managing director, Al Nabeel International; T C Ashraf, president KMCC, Oman; Siddique Hassan, president Overseas Indian Cultural Congress, Oman; Bindu Menon, marketing head, Asianet Middle East and media and television personality Parvathi Thrivikraman.
Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, deputy leader of opposition, Kerala legislative assembly, Anwar Sadath, member of the Kerala legislative assembly, Dr P Mohammed Ali, managing director Galfar, and other partners of Shifa al Jazeera medical group were present at the event.
