(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) A five-day training workshop on public health emergency preparedness began in the presence of two World Health Organisation experts on Saturday, a press release said.
Delivering the opening address, Dr Salem bin Said al Wahaibi, the director general of Health Affairs said that the Ministry of Health (MoH) pays great attention to developing skills and abilities of health staff to ensure their emergency readiness.
Dr Wahaibi said that this second national-level training workshop aims at providing effective medical response to emergency cases through a series of procedures and policies. ''The ministry is working hard to establish a unit to deal with public health emergency preparedness as part of its administrative efforts. This workshop will go a long way to establish this unit using experience of participants.''
Dr Thamrah bin Said al Ghafri, director of planning at the Directorate General for Health Services in Muscat governorate, said, ''The workshop which is seeing participation of medical personnel including those from National Committee for Civil Defence will discuss concepts which are internationally practiced in the field of public health emergency preparedness and also have discussions on various health-related emergency scenarios in the country.''<
