(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Members of Muscat Club have launched the Fun Art Friday initiative at the Child Care Centre in Al Khoudh. This first of its kind initiative in Oman will see artists from 12 countries use walls of the centre as a canvas. The event will be held on alternate Fridays.
At least 16 artists from 12 nationalities have come together to paint on the orphanage's walls with the help of children. The orphanage, which is divided into 20 small villas has 121 residents.
On the first day, the artists joined hands with the children to draw colourful pictures on the walls of the centre's amphitheatre. The participating artists are from France, Pakistan, India, Philippines, Spain, Serbia, Oman, Africa, Germany and the UK.
They also wrote inspirational messages on the walls and helped children to express themselves through art. The paintings have messages and characters from Arabian tales like Sindbad and Ali Baba.
Ibrahim Gillani, one of the artists, said, ''I would like to spread joy for these children. So, the idea is to paint with them and spread happiness. We hope that we can make an impact on their lives and make them realise that society cares for them. The messages on these walls will always inspire them.
''We want to add colour to lives of children at the orphanage and they are helping us to paint on these walls. We chose Friday as it's a weekend and people spend the day with their families. We did the same here.''
Another artist, Marin Mbuta, said, ''The event is something where we can give something back to these children that will stay with them for a lifetime. I hope we can spread happiness through this initiative. This is also a chance where these children can express themselves through art.''
Fun Art Friday will continue till the orphanage is painted completely and will be gifted to the children on the eve of International Orphanage day.
