(MENAFN - Khaleej Times) Shaikha Lubna Al Qasimi, Minister of Foreign Trade, has concluded a visit to Bangladesh, where she met Prime Minister Sheikha Hasina Wajed, and a number of Bangladeshi cabinet ministers.
Accompanying Shaikha Lubna on her visit were Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of DP World, a number of DP World officials and Khalfan Al Mansouri, UAE Ambassador to Bangladesh.
The delegation's visit to the South Asian country aimed at strengthening investments and bilateral trade and establishing joint projects in maritime shipping, ports management, logistics and other investments.
During her meeting with the Bangladeshi prime minister, Shaikha Lubna emphasised the importance of strengthening UAE-Bangladeshi bilateral economic and investment ties.
She also called for easing the establishment of joint investments and projects in various sectors, and for eliminating the restrictions that affect them, underlining the great importance UAE investments play in the Indian subcontinent.
For her part, Prime Minister Wajed underlined her government's keenness on strengthening Bangladesh's economic relations with the UAE. She also highlighted the most important investment opportunities and projects available for Emirati investment companies in Bangladesh. She noted that all barriers standing in the way of the flow of UAE investments to Bangladesh have been resolved.
The trade between the UAE and Bangladesh reached Dh992 billion during H1 2012.
