(MENAFN) An official data showed that Japan's manufacturing output grew by a seasonally adjusted 2.5 percent in December compared to November, signaling a slow recovery thanks to stronger global demand and government spending, Reuters reported.

According to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the industrial output growth was led by the increase in the production of large passenger cars and vehicle components and machinery for making semiconductors.

The ministry compared December's increase in industrial output with a month-on-month drop of 1.4 percent in November.

The ministry also said that inventories declined 1.1 percent from the month before while shipments rose 4.4 percent.
