(MENAFN - Emirates News Agency (WAM)) Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) today signed a five year contract with Duty Free Shoppers (DFS), the world's leading travel retailer, to manage and operate Abu Dhabi Duty Free, until the end of 2017. The agreement was signed by Ali Majed Al Mansouri, Chairman of ADAC and Phillipe Schaus, Chairman and CEO of DFS, at the Trinity Forum hosted by ADAC in Yas Viceroy.

With the new contract in place, travelers through Abu Dhabi international Airport will continue to enjoy the exclusive offers and products available at the Duty Free outlets in all three terminals, whether departing, arriving or transiting.

Al Mansouri, Chairman of ADAC, said: "DFS has been a partner of ADAC since 2008 and throughout those five years, they have been driving the commercial offer at Abu Dhabi Duty Free, enabling it to register double digit growth in sales revenue year upon year. Extending this partnership for another five years will allow both parties to explore further new opportunities as the Capital's airport continue to record a substantial increase in passenger traffic annually."

Phillipe Schaus, Chairman and CEO DFS Group, added: "We are very pleased to continue our relationship with ADAC. It has been a privilege to be a part of the team, led by ADAC, which is constantly redefining the standards of excellence in Abu Dhabi Airport. We will continue to strengthen our product and service offerings and we look forward to further enhancing the world class travel retail experience in Abu Dhabi in the future."

2012 was an exciting and successful year for Abu Dhabi Duty Free as it recorded USD 220 million in sales revenue throughout the year. 2013 is also expected to be another record year for ADAC, as new brands join current retail partners at Abu Dhabi International Airport.
