(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Sarah al Balushi, Oman's lone hope in the first leg of the two-phase 2013 Oman ITF Junior U18 Tournament, crashed out of the girls' singles qualifying event at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex on Sunday. She lost to fourth seed Cecilla Castelli of Italy 1-6, 0-6 in a secondround qualifying game.The disappointment came just a day after the Omani girl defeated India's Yashica Jain 6-1, 6-0 in a first-round qualifier at the sultanate's first Grade 4 tennis competition. In the boys' category on Sunday, Oman's Ahmed al Balushi lost to Saudi Arabia's Mohammed al Soughayer 0-6, 3-6, while Younis al Rawahi succumbed to a 0-6, 0-6 rout at the hands of seventh seed Justin Roberts of the Bahamas. Also on Sunday, top seed Josef Dodridge of Italy overcame Roberts 6-3, 6-2 to qualify for the main round.Second seed Mert Zincirli of Turkey rallied from a set down to defeat Aryan Goveas 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 to advance, while sixth seed William Flavel of Britain defeated Uzbekistan's Ulugbek Fayzullaev 7-6, 6-2. The last available spot in the main event was clinched by the unseeded Tallon Griekspoor of the Netherlands, who defeated Efekan Bulbul of Turkey.In late matches on Sunday, four girls progressed to the main draw. Top seed Ramya Natrajan of India edged out seventh seed Estee Widdershoven of Belgium 6-4, 2-6, 6-4, while Arina Umanskaya of Russia beat Carlotta Giannetta of Italy 2-6, 6-4, 6-1. French girl Apolline Rassat scored a 6-4, 6-1 win against Russia's Daria Chemodanova, while Luna Meers posted a 6-4, 7-5 win over Cecilla.
