Kuwait- 8,958 citations issued, almost 700 vehicles impounded


(MENAFN- Arab Times) The General Traffic Department conducted series of surprise campaigns in all six governorates during the weekend and issued 8,958 traffic violations and impounded 681 vehicles plus 4 motorbikes. According to statistics, officers from the Capital issued 1,267 citations and impounded 3 vehicles while in Farwaniya, they issued 1,110 citations and seized 30 vehicles. Hawalli traffic men recorded 2,461 violations and towed 260 vehicles to the ministry garages, while in Ahmadi they recorded 1,200 citations and impounded 33 vehicles. Also, officers from Mubarak Al-Kabeer recorded 337 citations and seized 19 vehicles, while 415 violations were recorded in Jahra governorate where officers impounded 30 more vehicles. Meanwhile, the Operations Department recorded 1,875 traffic violations, and seized 306 vehicles plus 4 motorbikes, and officers at the airport issued 293 citations. The Security Media Department calls on all road users to be careful and abide by traffic rules and regulations to protect life and property. In another development, statistics issued by the Ministry of Interior show, personnel from the General Immigration Department during 2012 have arrested 1,113 residence law violators and 1,370 people on whom absconding reports have been filed by their respective sponsors, reports Al-Anba daily. Meanwhile, the security authorities arrested 200 people drug peddlers and drug consumers, and 1, 766 people who were wanted by law to serve prison terms. The Operations Department of the Ministry of Interior also recorded 1,129 violations, helped arrest 61 suspects and offered assistance in 1,930 situations.
