Jordan's TRC says 3 firms to bid for 4th mobile license: Paper


(MENAFN) Jordan's Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) said that three companies are interested in acquiring a fourth mobile license and fixed wireless broadband services in the Kingdom, the Jordan Times reported. The paper said that the TRC will be announcing the criteria needed to obtain the licenses by the end of March. There are currently three players in Jordan's mobile services market including Zain Jordan, Orange Jordan and Umniah. Mobile penetration in Jordan reached 138 percent by the end of September last year with 8.7 million mobile subscribers, while internet penetration reached 63 percent in 2012, according to official figures.
