(MENAFN - Khaleej Times) A five-year-old child has died after falling from his third-floor apartment in the Capital's Khalidiyah area.
According to the Abu Dhabi Police, the Palestinian child fell from the window of the master bedroom on Friday, after he was left unattended.
"The accident happened on Friday morning when the rest of the family, including the parents, were here in the apartment but in other rooms," said a statement issued by the Abu Dhabi Police.
This is the second such accident that has happened in the Capital within two months. Earlier, another Arab expatriate child, also five-years-old, fell from a second floor apartment on the Muroor Road.
The child, identified as A.R., was found by neighbours, after having fallen from the building, who immediately reported the accident to the police. He was taken to Shaikh Khalifa Medical City in a very critical condition, but he died later in the evening. The police report stated that all the windows of the apartment were closed by the parents for safety, except the master bedroom window.
Ministry of Interior Secretary General Lt.-General Nassir Al Nuaimi issued a statement, advising residents to be extra-cautious over the safety of their young children and ensure windows were safe and balcony access was closed to children.
