UAE- DSCE and Dewa delegation visits China


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A high-profile delegation from the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) is on a visit to China to discuss areas of cooperation in the energy sector with their counterparts in the country. The visit follows an invitation from the Chinese Government and aims to strengthen cooperation and joint efforts with the Chinese organisations working in the field of energy, electricity and water, and review their achievements in clean, alternative, and renewable energy and the reduction of losses on electricity networks. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice-Chairman of the Supreme Council and MD and CEO of Dewa, is heading the delegation, which includes Ahmad Butti Al Muhairbi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council, and from Dewa, Waleed Salman, Executive Vice-President of Strategy and Business Development, Nasser Lootah, Executive Vice President of Generation, Dr Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice-President of Business Support, Lars Marmsjo, Chief Advisor on Generation, Ahmed Abdullah, Deputy Senior Manager of External Communications, and Arif Julfar, Manager of Media and Marketing. Senior officials of the Chinese National Energy Administration will discuss topics including renewable and clean energy, carbon emissions and global warming issues. The delegation will meet the president of Huaneng Power International and senior officials and CEOs from other Chinese organisations specialising in energy, including the State Development and Investment Corporation and the Ministry of Commerce, to explore areas for cooperation in leveraging the latest trends and technological solutions to improve the reliability and efficiency of renewable energy. The delegation will also visit the Fossil Fuels Division at Siemens, in addition to several generation and distribution substations and review the latest technologies for using clean coal in generating power. They will tour the Changzhou Solar City and review best practices in this field, especially with Dewa preparing to launch the first phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park by the end of this year.
