Google posts USD2.9b Q4 profit

(MENAFN) Google announced that its fourth-quarter net income grew to USD2.9 billion from USD2.7 billion in 2011's same period, reported AP. The search engine said that revenue jumped 36 percent from a year earlier to USD14.4 billion, while it reached USD11.3 billion, after subtracting advertising expenses. Meanwhile, average ad prices fell by 6 percent from the previous year, posting the smallest drop during the economic recession. However, the company has been able to make up for the decline in its search advertising prices through selling more video advertising on its YouTube unit and other more graphical forms of marketing. It is worth noting that in the period, Google's total ad clicks climbed 24 percent from a year earlier.
