(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Oman began its campaign in the Asian qualifying round for the 2013 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup with a 4-6 defeat to Australia at Katara Beach in Doha, Qatar, on Tuesday. In the Group A opener, Australia led the first session 2-1 and further increased the lead in second session to 4-2. Oman could score only one goal in the final 12-minute period. For Oman, Khalid al Araimi scored twice, while Ishaq al Qasmi and Abdullah al Balushi struck once each. Oman plays Afghanistan on Wednesday and then Qatar on Thursday. Oman coach Talib Hilal said after the loss, ''We will have to win both the games now to make it to the semifinals. We will give our best.'' A total of 16 countries are fighting for three spots from Asia for the World Cup, which will be played in Tahiti from September 18-28.
