Google raises SC data center investment to USD1.2b

(MENAFN) Google Inc. stated that it will double its investment in its South Carolina data center to USD1.2 billion, reported AP. The company, which 6 years ago invested USD600 million in its campus, south of Moncks Corner, will add an extra payment of USD600 million. Through the initial investment, Google set up 2 data center buildings on the campus. The site has nearly 150 employees at the current time. The internet search giant will be advertising for candidates for the new jobs, and recruiting workers with backgrounds in everything from engineering and data networks to security and facilities management. It is worth noting that the data centers comprise large banks of computer servers that process everything from internet searches to email, inquiries to Google maps and YouTube videos in addition to other services.
