Manchester Airports to buy London Stansted Airport for USD2.4b

(MENAFN) Heathrow Airport Holdings' chief executive, Colin Matthews, stated that the company will sell London Stansted Airport for USD2.4 billion, reported Gulf News. Matthews said that the sale to Manchester Airports Group, scheduled to close by the end of next month, will reduce the number of British airports run by Heathrow to only 4. The airport, the country's fourth busiest after London Heathrow, London Gatwick and Manchester, has been named the world's best airport for low-cost carriers for 2 straight years at the Skytrax World Airport Awards. It is worth noting that Spanish-owned airports operator Heathrow Airport Holdings was formerly knows as BAA.
