China's 2012 farm produce output sees expansion


(MENAFN) China's Ministry of Agriculture announced that the country's farm produce output expanded in 2012, driven by a growth in the production of vegetable, sugar and meat, reported Xinhua News. The ministry said that Chinese vegetable production rose 3.4 percent from 2011, hitting 702 million tons, whereas sugar output gained 7.8 percent, reaching 135 million tons. In the mean time, meat output grew 5.4 percent to 82.21 million tons, whereas production of milk rose 2.3 percent to 37.44 million tons, and that of eggs edged up by 1.8 percent to 28.61 million tons. Furthermore, China's oil plant output increased 5.1 percent in 2012 to 34.76 million tons, and its cotton production went up by 3.8 percent to 6.84 million tons.
