GCC Chief: GCC Countries Are Paying the Issue of Water Security A Special Attention 

(MENAFN - Qatar News Agency) The GCC Secretary General Dr. Abdul-Latif bin Rashid Al-Zayani has said that leaders of the GCC countries are paying a special attention to the issue of water security and extending it a top priority.

Dr. Al-Zayani made the remarks in a speech at the opening session of the World Summit on water organized by United Arab Emirates Masdar Company, in Abu Dhabi.

The GCC chief further said that the GCC leaders stress on water security of the GCC countries and water linkage.

The Secretary General warned of the danger of Bushehr nuclear reactor which has become a threat to the environment, especially after the news that circulated recently about a technical glitch that led to its decommissioning for a limited period, which caused a feeling of concern over the danger of the reactor, and its consequent environmental damage.

Dr. Abdul-Latif bin Rashid Al-Zayani went on to say that the GCC have called on Iran to comply with full transparency about this topic, and to immediately join the Convention on nuclear safety, and apply the highest standards of safety at its facilities.
