Kuwait- Barrak fined in

(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Court of Appeals on Monday canceled the ruling of the First Instance Court which had earlier sentenced MP Musallam Al-Barrak to six months in prison for issuing a statement deemed offensive to Minister of Planning and Development and State Minister for National Assembly Affairs Dr Rola Dashti. However, the court ordered Al-Barrak and the editor-in-chief of the newspaper that published his statement to pay a fine of KD 3,000 each. It also asked Al-Barrak to pay KD 5,001 compensation to Dashti. Case files indicate Dashti sued the lawmaker for accusing her of hiding information on the spoilt food issue.
