Citation Resources starts acid wash at Guatemala oil and gas well

(MENAFN- ProactiveInvestors - Australia) Citation Resources (ASX: CTR) has started acid wash operations that will allow natural flow rates to be established from some of the intervals at its Atzam-4 well in Guatemala. The first operation will be carried out on the Lower C18/C19 reservoir sections which did not recover any hydrocarbons or fluids following the first set of well bore perforations. These sections produced significant oil shows, making it likely the perforations were blocked through excess cementing in this section caused by well bore washout whilst drilling. An acid wash into these perforations will confirm if the excess cementing restricted any connection to the reservoir and an initial flow rate This will be followed by an acid wash to break down the muds that were lost into the Upper C18 section, which occurred due to the heavy muds used while drilling and permeability of the sections. Citation believes this will allow the interval to flow naturally. Depending on the flow rates achieved from the C18/C19 sections post acid wash, if the perforated sections produce strong commercial flow rates the highly prospective C13 and C14 reservoir sections may not be tested in the Atzam-4 well. In this scenario the Atzamp-5 well is likely to target the C13 and C14 reservoir sections.
