Jordan Urges Exemption of Fuel Trucks From Iraqi Border Closure


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Jordan said on Monday that 300 fuel trucks carrying Iraqi crude oil have been waiting on the Iraqi side of the border which was closed by the Iraqi authorities because of ongoing local protests. The Jordanian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said it was following up the Iraqi decision closing the border post, a step that affected Iraq's crude supplies to Jordan. The ministry said it asked the Iraqi marketing company for exemption of the oil supplies from the closure and that the Jordanian Minister of Energy and Mineral Wealth Alaa Al Batayna called the Iraqi Oil Minister Abel Karim Laibi who said he would look into the issue.
