Discovery Metals continues ramp up of Boseto copper project

(MENAFN- ProactiveInvestors - Australia) Discovery Metals (ASX:DML) has continued with the ramp up of production from its Boseto copper project in Botswana with mining production exceeding 100% of design rate. Mining production for December was 3.2 million tonnes and the company is carrying out furuther initiatives to improve mining productivity. Much of the mining production was from the Zeta pit, where a temporary suspension of pit deepening was lifted late December. Discovery's concentrator production was down 47% due to the loss of 17 days in total, with 8 days due to insufficient ore and 9 days due to failure of the mill gear box. The concentrator s back up earlier this month and has achieved design production rate for the days it operated. Despite some issues, concentrate production in December was 2,345 tonnes at 39% copper containing 925 tonnes of copper and 41,513 ounces of silver. The proportion of copper in the concentrate produced remained high and above industry average despite processing of lower grade oxide and transitional ore.
