(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) The Port Services Corporation (PSC), under the auspices of its chairman Mohammed Jawan bin Hassan bin Sulaiman, on Saturday launched its redesigned website. The electronic services team was honoured for its role in bringing the project to success.The corporation has spent roughly RO1mn on developing its IT systems. The redesigned website takes advantage of the newest technologies and applications to achieve easier communication with clients and implement more online services. The newly designed website allows checking of port tariffs, follow-up of final approvals,submission of applications for special services at the port, participation in announced tenders, enquiry about the status of regular and refrigerated containers and stocks at ports, submission of applications for job vacancies online, and provides a directory of Omani shipping companies and records of lists on uploading and packing of containers.In response to a question about the Royal Directives to convert Port Sultan Qaboos into a tourist port, Sulaiman said that a comprehensive study initiated by the government in this regard is being carried out, adding that there a major difference between a commercial and tourist port and that action will depend on the study.He also told Muscat Daily that the PSC board of directors was working strategically on tourists activities in the coming period and was in touch with international companies to convert Port Sultan Qaboos into a tourist port.
