China's online search newcomer Qihoo 360 gains market share


(MENAFN- ProactiveInvestors - Australia) China's online search market received a dose of competition in 2012, with Qihoo 360 (NYSE: QIHU) gaining a 10.5 per cent share in December. In one of the few markets where market monolith Google is not king, Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) accounted for 71.5 per cent of China's online search market in December 2012. According to Analysys International. Google has just 15.7 percent of the market, while Sogou, with 2.9 percent is next largest serving the China market. With metrics to boast about, China had more than 530 million Internet users, according to the China Internet Network Information Center in 2012. The country's Internet user base is on pace to nearly double itself over the next four years. In 2008, there were just 298 million users in China with access to the Internet.
