Iranian President opens natural gas storage facility


(MENAFN) Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has officially inaugurated the country's first natural gas storage facility, reported AP citing Iranian state TV. According to the TV report, the facility, which is located at Sarajeh outside the central Iranian holy city of Qom, has the capacity to store 1.5 billion cubic meters. Nevertheless, after developing the second phase, the facility will become able to store 3.3 billion cubic meters. The Islamic Republic, which is under Western oil and gas sanctions, has already stored around 7.3 million cubic meters of gas at the facility.
