Kuwait- Court Orders Drug Addict Must Be Kept In Hospital

(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Criminal Court presided over by Justice Wael Al-Ateeqi ordered a citizen to be kept in Psychiatric Hospital for six months for consuming drugs at the Bird Market. The citizen had been arrested by a security officer who found him in an abnormal state at the Bird Market in Al-Rai area and referred to the Criminal Investigation Department where officers established he was under the influence of drugs. The defendant's attorney Faisal Al-Otaibi argued that his client confessed to the crime under duress, and noted the arrest procedure was invalid due to the absence of evidence to show his client was actually using drugs. He implored his client be acquitted due to lack of evidence.
