(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Al Nasr clinched the prestigious 2011 HM's Cup for Youth on Saturday as the Salalah-based club garnered the maximum points for all-round sports activities.The 2010 winner Al Ittefaq from Sharqiyah region finished runner-up, while Al Suwaiq from the Batinah region settled for the third place in the 43-club annual event of the Ministry of Sports Affairs.The sports ministry honoured the top ten clubs of the country at a ceremony held at the InterContinental Hotel on Saturday night. H E Ali al Sunaidy, the Minister of Commerce & Industry, was the chief guest and gave away the trophies, certificates and cash awards in the presence of H E Saad al Saadi, the Minister of Sports Affairs.Also present was H E Sheikh Rashad al Hinai, Under-Secretary at the sports ministry, and other dignitaries from the clubs. Al Nasr, which had won the title back in 2000 and 2001, bagged a cash prize of RO30,000, while Al Ittefaq took home RO27,000.Al Suwaiq received RO25,000. Speaking to Muscat Daily, Sheikh Saeed al Shanfari, Al Nasr Club chairman, said, ''This award means a lot to us. It will motivate a large number of youth, not just in Al Nasr, but in the entire Dhofar region to excel in sports.'' He added, ''The award shows our commitment towards providing the best facilities to youngsters.''The HM's Cup for Youth was constituted in 1998.
