Dubai- DSF 2012 attracts 4.36m visitors


(MENAFN) Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment's (DEPE) recent study shows that during the 2012 Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF), the festival received 4.36 million visitors, a growth of 9 percent from 2011's 3.98 million, reported Gulf News. Between January 5 and February 5, the festival generated USD4 billion; nevertheless, the amount fell from 2011's USD4.11 billion. The study revealed that of the total number of international visitors, 28 percent were from Europe, 23 percent from GCC countries and 16 percent from South Asia. During the 1-month period, shopping grew to USD2.42 billion from USD2.36 billion a year ago, whereas accommodation spend rose to USD762 million from USD734 million. During the festival, 97 percent of visitors said that they have shopped or were looking forward to shopping during their stay. It is worth noting that the DSF 2013 will run from January 3 to February 3.
