Death Toll from Russian Winter Cold


(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) At least 128 people have so far died due to an unusually bitter winter in Russia, an Interfax news agency report citing health sources said Wednesday. About 900 people were being treated in hospital for exposure, the report said. The latest victims included a man in Orenburg, around 1,500 kilometres south-east of Moscow, and another in Ulyanovsk 900 kilometres east of the capital, as temperatures fell to below minus 30 degrees Celsius. Many of the dead were homeless.
