(MENAFN) Japan's No.1 automaker Toyota Motor Corp said it is aiming for about 8.7 million units global sales, including Toyota and Lexus brands, in 2013, Reuters reported.

The figure is nearly the same as the 8.74 million vehicles it expects to have produced in 2012, and is 2.5 percent higher than the sales expected this year.

Toyota also forecasted to produce a total of 9.94 million vehicles and sell 9.91 million vehicles next year, including Daihatsu Motor Co and Hino Motors Ltd.

For 2012, Toyota estimates its group-wide output to grow 26 percent to 9.92 million vehicles globally this year, compared to 2011, as it rebounds from last year's earthquake disaster in Japan and floods in Thailand.

It sees its group-wide global sales for 2012 to be 9.7 million vehicles, up 22 percent.
