(MENAFN - Arab Times) Head of Interior and Defense Committee MP Askar Al-Enzi announced that the committee has approved the decree on 'one vote per voter' during its meeting on Sunday and referred it to the National Assembly, reports Al-Rai daily.

He said the committee modified the first paragraph of the law on Kuwaiti citizenship for Bedouns by increasing the number of Bedouns who can attain citizenship per year from 2,000 into minimum of 4,000, adding that it was referred to the Parliament after the committee members agreed unanimously on it.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Financial Committee MP Yousef Al-Zalzalah disclosed that the government is sincerely working on the case of dropping the loans' interests; however, it is still searching for a roadmap for handling the case in a proper manner in line with its monetary policy so that the largest possible number of debtors can benefit from such a step.

He pointed out that the role of the lawmakers is to submit best solutions for lifting the suffering of the citizens because this case has political, social and economic dimensions.

He indicated that the committee is planning to meet with the Deputy Premier and Minister of Finance Mustafa Al-Shamali on Sunday to submit and tackle two proposals to solve this case.

He explained that the first proposal bids the government to buy all the loans so that the interests can be dropped and the original loans can be reinstalled on a certain percentage that would remain unchanging for a long time.

He also explained that the second proposal is for the country to give up the interest of 0.5 percent that it receives annually from the banks for the government's deposits in these banks. The interests of loans can be dropped and the debtor payment will be considered as the original loan. This proposal is accepted in principle by the government, as it pays nothing.

Furthermore, MP Nabil Al-Fadhel suggested allotting a gift worth for example KD 2,000 or 3,000 for each citizen, which should not be cashed but used to settle bills of electricity, water or part of the banks' loans of the citizens.
