(MENAFN) Central Bank of Iran's Deputy Governor, Ali-Asghar Mirmohammad Sadeqi, stated that in the first half of the current Iranian calendar year, the country sold USD3.2 billion worth of bonds, reported Tehran Times.

Sadeqi said that in the previous calendar year, the Islamic Republic issued USD7.5 billion worth of bonds, of which USD3.8 billion were sold.

He added that nearly USD24.5 billion worth of bonds are in the hands of people.

It is worth noting that during the current Iranian calendar year, the country plans to issue nearly USD20.3 billion worth of bonds to shore up domestic output and to help regulate liquidity growth, according to the central bank's governor Mahmoud Bahmani.
