(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) A Growing Journey', the second solo exhibition by disabled Omani artist Safiya al Bahlani, opened at bank muscat's headquarters on Sunday. The three-day exhibition features paintings and digital art on nature, animals, still life, architecture and people.Safiya said she has been drawing and painting for as long as she can remember. ''Art has always been my way of expressing emotions and communicating my thoughts to the world. I am thankful to bank muscat for hosting this exhibition, which is a celebration of life, and thereby promoting arts which are an integral part of the sultanate's centuries-old heritage.''I believe the future is bright for young Omani artists as the art scene has seen vast improvement in the past few years. Omani art is more original and creative than it once was. I encourage young Omanis to get into art as it can be very therapeutic.''Safiya studied art at The American International School of Muscat, and also spent 18 months studying animation and graphics in Jordan. While in Jordan, she held her first solo exhibition of 30 paintings. Pieces exhibited included those she had made during her secondary school years, as well as some created under the guidance of a Jordanian artist. In March 2011, Safiya collaborated with an Omani fashion designer for a fashion show-cum-art exhibition. The duo also created a range of dresses and paintings inspired by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said's speeches. With A Growing Journey,' Safiya wants to convey that people with special needs are unique, talented and able to contribute to Omani society.bank muscat officials said that support to the exhibition stems from the bank's commitment to develop Omani citizens and contribute to the progress of society.  The exhibition will conclude on Tuesday.
