Spain's unemployment main reason behind home losses


(MENAFN) The Spanish National Institute of Statistics (INE) stated that 45 percent of those who lost their homes in the current year were unemployed, reported Xinhua News. The agency said that the main cause that led people in Spain to lose their homes in 2012 was unemployment, whereas expensive housing price and separation and divorce were other factors. It added that nearly half of homeless people in the debt-ridden country had children, and 44.5 percent of them had been without a place to live in for over 3 years. Furthermore, 54.2 percent of Spain's homeless people are Spanish, whereas the remaining 45.8 percent are foreigners, with Africans accounting for 56.6 percent.
