California Nov unemployment level drops to 9.8%

(MENAFN) The Employment Development Department stated that unemployment rate in California fell to 9.8 percent in November, compared with 10.1 percent in the previous month, reported AP. The unexpected drop was driven by an increase in technology jobs that have prompted a wave of new construction, mainly single-family housing. The department said that the last time the jobless rate was in single digits was in January 2009, when it was at 9.7 percent. The number of Californians without jobs fell to 1.8 million last month; the lowest number in almost 4 years, while the number of those working was 14.4 million. Since the economic rebound started in 2010, California has added over 564,000 non-farm payroll jobs.
