(MENAFN) South Korean Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) has won a total of USD1.05 billion orders to build five liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, Reuters reported. The company said that its shipyard affiliate Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries has secured a USD210 million contract from Brunei Gas to build a 155,000-cubic-metre LNG carrier. The company also took another contract worth USD840 million to build four 174,000-cubic-metre LNG carriers for Greek Maran Gas. The Greek contract included an option exercisable by the owner for two additional same-class LNG carriers, Hyundai added. Scheduled to be delivered between 2015 and 2016, the LNG carriers will feature a dual fuel diesel engine system (DFDE) which allows the ships to run either on diesel fuel or natural gas, according to the company.
