(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) The Oman Karting Team's Rawahi brothers - Abdullah and Sanad - produced impressive performances in the UAE Rotax Max Challenge Series, claiming podium finishes in the fourth round that was held at the Al Ain raceway recently. The younger of the Rawahi siblings, Abdullah, drove in pouring rain in the Junior 125 Max class to win the race, while Sanad took the third place in the DD2 class. The junior race began in overcast conditions and after a few laps, a heavy downpour caused several drivers to often spin out of control. Ameer Hassan led the field before the rain began, and soon Abdullah took control. After snatching the lead from Hassan, Abdullah expertly slid his way around the track and crossed the finish line even as the others struggled in tricky conditions. Steve Lyall from the UK, who has more experience than his opponents in driving in wet conditions, couldn't quite catch up with the Omani, finishing nine seconds behind to be runner- up.Duncan Foster came in third. In the DD2 race, Sanad drove well enough to finish on the podium in wet conditions. Seasoned Belgian racer Xen De Ruwe led the field through the race and saw off a stiff challenge from eventual runner-up Oliver George towards the end to finish first. Mohammed al Dhaheri finished fourth behind Sanad.
