NBO to support Outward Bound Oman programme


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) As part of its commitment to youth development, National Bank of Oman (NBO) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Outward Bound Oman - ‘Tah-addi'- a non-profit educational organisation.Tahaddi was established under the patronage of H H  Sayyid Faisal bin Turki al Said, in May 2009 in Oman, to reflect the importance of investing in the sultanate's human resources. It is the first and only Outward Bound organisation in the Arab World.Outward Bound Oman challenges individuals in a unique way, giving them exposure to skills and experiences that increase their employability and their performance, for an enriching future.NBO will be the patron company - Outward Bound Oman Tahaddi –  for a period of three years. The agreement was signed by Sayyid Faisal, patron Tahaddi and H H Sayyida Rawan bint Ahmed al Said, NBO's board member.Ahmed al Musalmi, NBO's deputy chief executive officer and other management members, were present on the occasion. The Outward Bound Oman aims to develop and help Omani youths realise their potential through challenging outdoor journeys. NBO will support 72 Omanis per year, from four government schools, to enhance their employability through a four day course, over a period of three years. Students from both male and female schools will be given the chance to participate in teams with their own gender.Mark Evans, general manager, Outward Bound Oman, said: ''There can be no more meaningful social investment than investing in the future leaders and thinkers of Oman.''Outward Bound Oman takes young people out of their comfort zones and exposes them to lessons for life that cannot be learnt in a classroom environment, preparing them for the world of work, and opening their eyes to greater environmental awareness and meaningful community service. Thanks to the support of companies such as NBO, more and more young people are being given such opportunities.''Aisha al Kharusi, NBO's head, corporate communications and corporate social responsibility, said, ''NBO is no stranger to Outward Bound Oman Tahaddi, having previously sponsored a team that was indeed a rewarding investment. I have found the youngsters to be changed for the better in terms of their confidence, life and work skills on return from their adventure. The bank is excited to sponsor the new batches.''
