(MENAFN - Arab Times) An Arab woman along with her seven-year-old daughter were arrested recently in Hawally for begging in cafs and commercial malls under the pretense that she needs KD 5,000 to pay for an operation for her sick husband.
She reportedly carried a forged document that explained the illness of her husband and would cry to the visitors of the cafs and commercial malls to receive alms.
According to security sources, when the Director of General Department of Criminal Evidences Brigadier Mahmoud Al-Tabbakh received several reports about a group of women begging in cafs and commercial malls, he formed a team for investigations.
They added that the team managed to arrest the suspect while she and her daughter were begging in a caf in Hawally.
During interrogations, she informed securitymen that her sick husband requires an operation that will cost KD 5,000.
However, in-depth investigations revealed that her husband was not suffering from any illness and she had pretended in order to receive money from the Kuwaiti citizens and expatriates.
A case was registered and necessary legal action was taken against her.
Sources from General Department of Criminal Evidences revealed that impromptu campaigns will be launched in all cafs and commercial malls to arrest beggars.
