Kuwait- Assembly rejects referral demand - Article 71 case 

(MENAFN - Arab Times) The National Assembly during its first session last Sunday refused a demand to refer Article 71 of the Constitution to Constitutional Court to interpret the state of necessity, reports Al-Sabah daily.

However, the Parliament agreed on referring all decrees of necessity, including the one-vote system to a concerned committee to conduct relevant reports in that regard, paving the way to vote on them.

Also, the assembly accepted a governmental demand to suspend formation of five temporary committees for one week.

In another development, Attorney Salah Al-Hashim decided to file a lawsuit immediately to suspend parliamentary session scheduled for Dec 25, reports Al-Kuwaitiya daily.

Al-Hashim counted on Article No. 71 of the Constitution which says the legal influence of the decrees of necessity becomes null retroactively if they are not presented to the Parliament in its first meeting.

Meanwhile, newly elected MP Khalil Al-Saleh has said the coming phase will be very sensitive and wouldn't tolerate delays or courtesies at the expense of the nation, reports Al-Jareeda daily.

He intends to work hard to eliminate all aspects of corruption, and to protect public funds and deal with obstacles against the national unity.

He explained the new Parliament will be tough, and he will not work for the interests of any parliamentary bloc that incites sectarian conflict and segregation. He believes the new Parliament will coordinate to replace the failures of previous Parliaments with successes.

He stressed the need to obey the instructions of HH the Amir so as to preserve the national unity, urging the Prime Minister must select qualified people for his Cabinet in order to accomplish development.
