(MENAFN - Arab News) Baha Gov. Prince Mishari bin Saud yesterday launched a number of development projects in Aqeeq, including educational projects worth SR 196 million and a new civil defense building.

The governor also launched an exhibition of educational projects at Prince Faisal bin Muhammad Intermediate School, displaying models and engineering designs of new projects.

The governor toured the civil defense department's administrative and firefighting facilities. Covering an area of 3,500 square meters, the civil defense building was constructed at a cost of SR 14 million.

He also watched a documentary on the building and civil defense services in Aqeeq. Prince Mishari later laid the foundation for a new civil defense office in Jarb, which is to cost SR 16 million.

Earlier on arrival at the civil defense building, the governor was received by Ghallab Abu Khasheem, the chief administrative officer of Aqeeq and Col. Ali Al-Amri, assistant director of civil defense.

During his tour to Aqeeq, the governor also gave his green signal to start five new municipal projects including establishment of two gates near the university and airport.

Prince Mishari met with a number of people including tribal leaders and urged government officials to exert greater efforts to meet the needs of citizens.
"This visit is aimed at inspecting the services being rendered by the various government departments to citizens and progress of development projects in the city," the prince said.

He urged all government officials to carry out the duties in an efficient manner following the directives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah.

Prince Mishari stressed the need for giving priority to important projects required by citizens. Deputy Gov. Hamid Al-Shammari and police director Maj. Gen. Muhammad Al-Hatlani accompanied him.
