(MENAFN - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) Ministerial Council will hold its 89th meeting in Cairo in December 22, OAPEC Secretary General Abbas Ali Al-Naqi said on Monday. He told KUNA that Algerian Minister of Energy and Mining Dr. Yousif Yousifi will head the meeting, representing his country, chairman of OPEC's current session.
OAPEC Ministerial Council will tackle a number of issues listed on its agenda including approval of the draft budget for the organization for the year 2013, besides the conferences and meetings it held or took part in, as well as the studies it conducted in relation to the environment and climate change, besides reviewing the latest developments related to the United Nations (UN) Framework Convention on Climate Change and Kyoto Protocol. The council will also look at the results of OAPEC Scientific Award competition, themed "The results of the application of modern technologies in the oil exploration and production in Arab countries and their economic revenues" for the year 2012, and would announce the names of the winners.
The OAPEC 89th Ministerial Council meeting will be headed by the 134th meeting of OAPEC regional excutive office in December between 19-20, which would be headed by Algeria. OAPEC is a regional, specialized international organization focusing on organizing cooperation in oil development, collective projects, and regional integration.
