For local flavour, it shows date palm trees and a fort.Salma al Hashmi, Oman Sail's director of marketing and communications, said, We saw this exercise (designing the logo) as a great opportunity to highlight the country. In the logo, we used red as well as deep maroon, which is common in Omani handicraft. Also, since the logo is going to introduce an international audience to Oman, we combined sports (the sails) with the country's heritage and culture by using the imagery of forts.A total of 60 countries will vie for top honours in the 2013 event. Graham said, If we get 60 nations here, then it will be the biggest world championship here.Martin, meanwhile, is confident that Oman is preparing well for the world championship. I am more than happy to see what we have here, he said. Oman is ready for the event and it's the perfect venue for such a competition. Hopefully, it will inspire a lot more Omani youngsters to take up sailing.H E Jawad said, In Oman, sailing has always been associated with the country's history and its identity. The sport has seen significant development in recent years. Bringing the Laser World Championships to Oman shows the country's commitment towards sailing. We are proud to host this prestigious event in Musannah. The 2013 worlds will feature three separate competitions - the Senior World Championship (November 14-23), the Masters World Championship (November 28-December 7) and the Radial Youth World Championship (December 27, 2013 to January 3, 2014).
