Japanese Go To Polls


(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Japanese voters cast their ballots in parliamentary elections on Sunday. The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) was leading in the polls against Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda's Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ), according to a report of DPA. The powerful lower house election is the first since Japan's nuclear disaster at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station. About 1,500 candidates from different parties are vying for the 480 seats in the lower house of parliament. Voters were lined up at the polling centers which opened at 7 am local time (2200 GMT Saturday) across the country. They were to close at 8 pm local time.
